Zycko's History

Zycko was founded in late 1999 by Rory Sweet, following the sale of his previous company RBR Networks to Datatec. RBR Networks was a highly successful Cisco distributor and at one time accounted for around 90% of Cisco’s UK distribution sales.  Upon acquisition it was rebranded as Comstor and remains a highly successful business to this day.

The original business concept for Zycko was to provide OEM accessories into the networking channel. Zycko established strategic relationships with key manufacturers and quickly became highly successful in this area.

Over the next few years a product strategy was developed to sit alongside the accessories business and this has resulted in the portfolio which can be seen today, encompassing technologies for networking, virtualisation, data storage and the data centre.

Over the years Zycko’s growth has been augmented by a program of expansion into overseas territories. This has been achieved largely organically through the establishment of new offices, with the occasional acquisition.

Today Zycko has offices in 13 countries, and serves the rest of the world from its UK based headquarters. To complement this evolution, Zycko delivers first class, sophisticated professional services, accredited training, marketing and business development support to its customers.

In April 2011 the group management team of Nick Moglia, David Galton-Fenzi and Ken Wood completed a transaction to become the majority shareholders of the business. Rory Sweet retains a shareholding and remains a non-executive director who is not actively involved in the day to day running of the company.
